Luke signed for the Hoops in November 2013 from north city rivals Bohemians for whom he had joined in 2011. He made his League of Ireland debut at Bohs in February 2012 playing against Portadown in the Setanta Cup.
In 2014, Luke played for the Irish Home-based Under 21 team and was further recognised with a call-up for the Republic Under 21 squad for the qualifying game against Montenegro at Tallaght Stadium.
He scored his first goal in senior football in Rovers’ win away to Galway in June 2015 but the following April disaster struck. Ten minutes into a 2-0 defeat at Turner’s Cross, Luke tore his cruciate and lateral ligament, which ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
A little over a year later, he had made a complete recovery and returned to action in a 3-1 League Cup win over his old club Bohs. Luke made 27 appearances altogether in 2017, helping the Hoops keep clean sheets in both legs of the European win over Icelandic side Stjarnan.
