Tomer was born in Israel but grew up in Canada, where he began his career with MLS side Toronto FC in 2007. He had spells with two American sides, Newark Ironbound and Express Harrisburg City Islanders, either side of a short stint with Moldovan outfit Nistru Otaci.
Tomer played for VPS (Finland) in 2011 and Orebro SK (Sweden) in 2012 before returning home to join Israeli Premier League champions Maccabi Tel Aviv for two seasons. In March 2013, he was capped by the Canadian international team in a friendly with Belarus. Tomer played for RoPS in 2015 and helped the Finnish side qualify for the Europa League, where they would go on to play Shamrock Rovers.
He also had a loan spell with FC Santa Claus, another Rovaniemi based club that year. Tomer then joined Helsingborgs, making 19 league appearances as Henrik Larsson’s side were relegated from the Swedish top flight through the playoffs.
Former Hoops coach Sami Ristilä recommended him to the club and he kept 12 clean sheets in 40 appearances for Rovers in 2017.
