Shamrock Rovers 4-0 Cabinteely FC
Cabinteely were the latest to attempt to call a halt to the onward march of the SRFC Under 15s in the Section 2 game played this evening at Roadstone. They set their stall out well. They obviously decided they weren’t going to show respect nor fear of a Hoops’ side that had scored 20 goals and none conceded in their first three games of the season.
However, despite a lot of intense effort, the visitors fell behind in the 11th minute to a bullet delivery from the head of centre half Oisin Hand. Cabo didn’t lie back, they continued to take the game to the Hoops but the intensity and pace suggested they might fall short in the second half.
Within 16 minutes after the break the Hoops were leading 3-0, having doubled their lead within a minute of the restart through Sinclair Armstrong and then went further ahead when Armstrong sent Conan Noonan in to score with a fantastic shot.
Cabo were struggling at this stage to maintain the composure they had shown in the first half and some fine work from Kyle O’Connor resulted in the midfielder heading the Hoops into a 4-0 lead in the 60th minute.
After that the Hoops knew they had done enough to seal the points but to be fair to Cabinteely they gave their opponents a really good game and the win did not come easy.
Rovers lined out as follows: 1. Kian Moore, 2. Matthew Scott, 3. Craig McGuire, 4. Oisin Hand, 5. Dara Oke, 6. Evan Caffrey, 7. Roland Banya, 8. Kyle O’Connor, 9. Sinclair Armstrong, 10. Sami Clarke, 11. Conan Noonan.
Subs: Victory Aibange, 15. Kevin Platon (for Oke h.t.), 16. Nathan Onebuchi (for Noonan 64 mins), 17. Charlie Gallagher (for O’Connor 64 mins), 25. Killian Cahill (for Moore 64 mins).
