The Under 15s got off to a very impressive start in their league campaign with a 4-0 win against Bray Wanderers at Roadstone tonight.
The first goal came after just 2 minutes. Sami Clarke directed a short corner to Conan Noonan who played it back for Clarke to swing the ball back in close to the line and captain Evan Caffrey met it with his head to steer it over the line.
Roland Banya struck the crossbar six minutes later but the winger was not to be denied a further ten minutes on when Clarke sent him on his way in the box. Banya controlled the ball well before cutting in and slipping the ball past the ‘keeper to make it 2-0.
The lead was further increased in the 27th minute when Noonan’s corner was met by the head of centre half Oisin Hand who made no mistake with a powerful effort.
The fourth goal came in the 62nd minute when Adam Wells drove to the net after further sustained pressure from the Hoops.
This was possibly the best performance given by this team since their formation last year. They pushed the ball around well, retaining possession and pinning their opponents deep into their own half. Bray were limited to a handful of chances over the course of the game.
The Hoops lined out as follows: 1. Kian Moore, 2. Matthew Scott, 4. Oisin Hand, 5. Adam Wells, 7. Roland Banya, 8. Kyle O’Connor, 9. Sinclair Armstrong, 10. Sami Clarke, 11. Conan Noonan, 16. Evan Caffrey, 15. Craig McGuire.
Substitutes: 14. Nathan Anybuchi (for Banya 62 mins), 19. Charlie Gallagher (for Noonan 62 mins), 17. Victory Aibanghe (for O’Connor 51 mins), 18. Kevin Platon (for McGuire 54 mins), 25. Killian Cahill.
