Next Thursday’s massive UEFA Europa League second round qualification match will be broadcast live on RTÉ 2 and on RTÉ Player.
Shamrock Rovers F.C. is delighted to announce that it has reached agreement with the National broadcaster that will give everyone in the country the opportunity to watch the game free to air on TV and digital player.
The club has exclusive broadcast rights for Ireland only (under new UEFA broadcast rules) and we expect AC Milan to announce Italian and worldwide broadcast arrangements soon.
RTÉ issued this statement:
RTÉ Sport announced today (Thursday 10 September, 2020) that the visit of Italian giants AC Milan to Tallaght Stadium to take on Shamrock Rovers in a Europa League second qualifying round tie on Thursday 17 September will be live on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player.
AC Milan travel to Dublin for what will be their first competitive game of the season. In contrast Shamrock Rovers are halfway through their SSE Airtricity League Premier Division campaign and sit five points clear at the top of the table with eight games remaining.
A Milan squad featuring Zlatan Ibrahimovi? and Italian national goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma will aim to overcome a Rovers side that progressed to this round after a record 12-11 penalty shootout win over Ilves Tampere of Finland in the first qualifying round.
Peter Collins will present live coverage from Tallaght Stadium with Kenny Cunningham alongside George Hamilton on commentary. Coverage begins at 6.30pm and the game kicks-off at 7.00pm. The tie is a one-legged affair with the winner decided on the night. Extra-time and penalties a possibility.
