Shamrock Rovers won two awards at the 2018 SSE Airtricity Club Awards held at the Clayton Hotel in Ballsbridge on Thursday 8th November.

The club entered three of the seven categories winning two – Best Family Initiative and Best Overall Marketing.

Mark Lynch, Board Director with responsibility for Marketing at Shamrock Rovers said:

“We are delighted to be recognised by our peers in the league and associated partners as being at the top of our game in promoting Shamrock Rovers F.C. across the season. The Awards recognise the work that is put in by a number of talented and committed club volunteers backed up by the club administration.

This year we released the #NothingBeatsBeingThere film to showcase what coming to Tallaght Stadium to support the Hoops is all about. This was highly successful and played a large part in our marketing programme in 2018.

We have a full programme of events and promotions spanning all target audiences that run across the year from January to December promoting Shamrock Rovers F.C. and encourage people to come and sample what we have on offer.

The results are there to show what we did has worked:
  • Season Ticket sales up 25% year on year to just under 1,500 STs
  • Family Season Tickets up 121%
  • Overall home fan attendances up 14%
  • Social media followers up 10,000+ (11%) and now approaching 100k on twitter, facebook and Instagram
  • Shortlisted at Irish Sport Industry Awards Feb 2018
  • Major video pieces launched in #FootballLovesUs and #NothingBeatsBeingThere to great acclaim with view levels over 500,000!

Our Family Initiatives have delivered excellent results:
  • We have experienced a 121% volume increase in family season tickets vs 2017
  • The value increase of these Family STs, allowing that there is no charge for children, is a hugely impressive 48%
  • We have seen the total amount of children season tickets sold for games at Tallaght Stadium increase by 332%
  • We have seen a 14% increase in home fan attendances 2018 v 2017
  • We have a queue of teams to be our half time mini game participants
  • Our Development Academy (children 4-7 years) now has nearly 200 children enjoying taking part and learning to play football every Sunday morning (we are at full capacity!)
  • The feedback from parents and the children has been fantastic!

In closing, I would like to thanks everyone who plays a part in helping us do great things off the pitch, who give their talent and time to help build on the wonderful legacy that Shamrock Rovers has and drive us forward trying new things, in new ways using new media channels to share what being part of SRFC is all about.”
