Shamrock Rovers team news ahead of Monday’s clash with Galway United at Tallaght Stadium

Shamrock Rovers v Galway United

SSE Airtricity League Premier Division

Tallaght Stadium

Monday, July 22nd, 2017. Kick off 8pm

Speaking with www.shamrockrovers.ie Rovers’ Head Coach Stephen Bradley said:

On previous game v Derry City (1-3):

“It was a sloppy goal from ourselves from our own point of view to give away right before half time but I thought we responded really well in the second half. I thought we were good, we created chances and had the goal disallowed. We had spoken about McEneff, he’s dangerous around the box. One fell to him and he gets a good strike but the player who sets him up is three yards offside where he received the ball. So it’s another decision that we don’t get in the game. Graham Burke’s goal for us is good play, we get a free kick and then we play off Gary and it’s a great strike by Graham. He has that technique.”

The disallowed goal:

“I thought it was a shocking decision to disallow the goal. The feedback we got from the linesman was that Gary Shaw was holding the goalkeeper. If you watch it back Gary is nowhere near him, the keeper actually runs into his own player. It’s very frustrating that it’s cost us points. If the goal had stood I thought we could have went on and possibly won the game. In the last couple of minutes, we were pushing on and doing everything to get an equaliser but it’s definitely a penalty.”

Injuries:

“Trevor Clarke got a knock in training the day before (Derry) so he was carrying the knock into that game. He’ll be fine. We’ll have to assess Roberto Lopes tomorrow. It was a sore one obviously, he’s rolled his ankle and it swelled up on him pretty bad after the game but it seemed to settle down this morning. We have to wait and have a look at him in the morning before we make a call. Paul Corry is still out”.

Galway United game:

“It’ll be a tough game, we knew that when we went down there and played them. I think it shows how good our win was down there at that time. People didn’t give us much credit for it then, they thought we should go down there and win but they’ve shown since that they’re a difficult side to play against. It’ll be no different tomorrow but if we play the way we have been playing I’m sure we’ll be OK. It was disappointing to take that on Friday because I thought we deserved more but there wasn’t a lot wrong. We just need to tighten up and do what we’ve been doing going forward.”
